A further eight people who tested positive for coronavirus have died, according to the Department of Health.

The death toll in Northern Ireland for people who tested positive has now risen to 514.

All eight people whose deaths were announced today died in the 24 hours up to 10am. 

A further 39 people have tested positive for Covid-19, bringing the total number of positive cases to 4,609.

Over the past 24 hours 1,084 people were tested. 

At present there are 547 people being treated in hospital for suspected (434) or confirmed (113) Covid-19 and they are being cared for in hospitals across the north, with the majority (136) in the Ulster Hospital in Dundonald.

There are 14 people with suspected or confirmed Covid-19 in an intensive care unit (ICU).

Meanwhile, there are coronavirus clusters in 145 care homes. A cluster is where two or more residents or staff have symptoms of coronavirus.
