Up to 60 households with vulnerable members in Mid and East Antrim council area are being given slow cooker kits.

The council said it hopes the set will help people who are shielding during the coronavirus pandemic to prepare healthy and tasty meals.

The kit contains:

  • a slow cooker
  • cookbook
  • box of store cupboard basics
  • chopping board
  • ingredients for up to two meals

The scheme has been developed by council and the Northern Healthy Lifestyles Partnership, funded by the Northern Health & Social Care Trust and the Public Health Agency and supported by Henderson Retail.

Deputy Mayor of Mid and East Antrim Beth Adger said thousands of food parcels are being delivered across the council area to people who are struggling.

“These supplies are not a short-term fix – we will make sure they continue for as long as they are needed.”
