Two men aged 66, 47 and a 16-year-old boy were arrested after an arson attack in Dungannon.

A group of masked and armed men broke the front window of a house in the Braeside area of the Co Tyrone town shortly after 5.20pm yesterday.

The men poured petrol into the house and set it alight.

No one was in the house at the time but the living room was extensively damaged. The rest of the house also suffered severe smoke damage.

Several nearby houses had to be evacuated during the fire.

The masked men drove off in a silver Volvo.

The Volvo was later found on fire on Ranfurly Road in Dungannon

Several men were seen leaving the scene of the Ranfurly Road fire in a black Ford Kuga.

When police arrived, the drivers of a white Mercedes CLA and a silver Seat Ateca tried to drive off.

Police stopped the Seat Ateca from leaving. The 66-year-old driver was arrested and several items were removed from the car.

The Mercedes CLA was later found and a number of items were seized. A 47-year-old man and a 16-year-old man were arrested.

All three were arrested on suspicion of possession of offensive weapons and other offences.

They were later released on police bail pending further enquiries.

Police are investigating a link between the arson and a fight in the Braeside area on Friday May 8. Two men aged 22 and 21 were arrested and later released pending a report to the Public Prosecution Service.

The PSNI said anyone with information should contact officers on 101.
