POLICE investigating a weekend arson attack at commercial premises in Lisburn are appealing for witnesses and information.

A report was made at about 1.50am yesterday of a fire at a chip shop on the Ballymacash Road.

Officers attended the scene, along with the fire and rescue servoce who extinguished the small fire at the front of the property.

Damage was caused to a drainpipe and tiles at the front of the premises.

A police spokesman said: "We are treating this fire as arson, and it is fortunate more serious damage wasn't caused, and the fire didn't spread to other properties.

"I would appeal to anyone who can help identify who was behind this reckless attack to call us."
