STUDENTS who have left their halls of residence due to coronavirus can cancel their accommodation contracts.

Ulster University (UU) said while its accommodation remained open, many students had left campus.

There will be no more face-to-face teaching this academic year at UU and Queen's University Belfast.

Queen's had already announced it would allow students living in university accommodation to cancel their contracts without any financial penalty.

The situation for those in private accommodation is less certain, however.

UU’s students' union has advised people to contact its advice bureau if they need advice about contacting their landlord.
