A BLAZE that caused damage to a house in east Belfast is believed to have been started by incense sticks.

Fire crews were called to the blaze at a mid-terrace house in Oberon Street, in the Cregagh area, at around 2.35pm yesterday.

There were no casualties.

Two appliances from Knock Fire Station attended the blaze.

Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used jets to extinguish the fire.

A spokesman for the fire service said smoke alarms were fitted to the property and alerted a passerby.

The spokesman said the cause of the fire is believed to have been burning incense sticks.
