PUPILS at a west Belfast primary school were celebrating yesterday after receiving two prestigious internet safety awards.

Deputy First Minister Michelle O'Neill visited Holy Trinity Primary school to take part in an awards ceremony.

In recognition of the excellent work on internet safety which the school has undertaken, in December, Holy Trinity became the first in Northern Ireland to receive the Cyber Resilience and Internet Safety Award.

Also in December, the school was awarded a 360 Degree Internet Safety award from the South Western Grid for Learning making it only the second primary school in the north yo receive this accolade.

The awards ceremony was held yesterday as it was National Safer Internet Day.

A spokeswoman for the school said: "We feel that in this digital world children need to learn to stay safe online and the programme we have developed in Holy Trinity is unique".
