A 23-YEAR-OLD man has charged with attempted murder after a man was stabbed in Derry last month.

The 28-year-old victim was left fighting for his life after he was attacked at a house in Cornshell Fields in the Shantallow area on December 2.

Three other men and two women, who were also in the house at the time, were not injured.

The 23-year-old man has been charged with offences including attempted murder, aggravated burglary and stealing, aggravated burglary with intent to inflict grievous bodily harm, possession of an offensive weapon with intent to commit an indictable offence and wounding with intent to do grievous bodily harm.

As is usual procedure, the charges will be reviewed by the Public Prosecution Service.

The victim survived a paramilitary-style assault in 2016.

He was shot twice in the leg in an attack blamed on dissident republicans.

The man was in a coma in hospital for several days after the shooting.
