PSNI investigate woman's 'horrific ordeal' during Co Down burglary

The PSNI are investigating a burglary in Downpatrick, Co Down

A WOMAN has undergone what police have described as an “horrific ordeal” during a robbery in Co Down.

Police say they received a report of a burglary that was ongoing at a house in the Ballintogher Road area of Downpatrick at around 6.10 am on Monday.

Two men, one armed with a knife and the other armed with a metal pole, had entered the house.

There were three people in the property at the time.

The suspect with the knife later pushed a woman in the house onto a sofa and threatened her.

A set of car keys were taken and a sum of money was also reported stolen.

The two men made off in a black Ford Ka which was later found abandoned in the Saul Brae area of Downpatrick.

A 24-year-old man was later arrested in connections with the incident and remained in custody last night.
