A REWARD of £10,000 has been offered for information on the killers of a Co Down man on the first anniversary of his murder.

Wayne Boylan was killed when two masked assailants burst into a house at Lower Dromore Road in Warrenpoint on January 18, 2019, and blasted him with a shotgun.

The 37-year-old father-of-one died of his injuries, while a 21-year-old woman who was in the house at the time suffered injuries when pellets from the shotgun blast hit her face and neck.

To date, no-one has been convicted in connection with the murder and following the £10,000 reward put up by the charity Crimestoppers, detectives from the PSNI's Major Investigation Team said they are appealing for information on a dark-coloured vehicle they believe was used in the attack.

Detective Chief Inspector Eamonn Corrigan said police were keen to trace the car's movements on the day of the murder and have urged witnesses who saw it in the Lower Dromore Road area of Warrenpoint, or on the dual carriageway between Newry and Warrenpoint at around 7.30pm on that date, to contact them.

"We know that after the murder this vehicle went towards Warrenpoint and entered Duke Street. Where did it go after this and who was in the vehicle?" DCI Corrigan said.

"Everyone is now back to work after the Christmas festivities, having spent precious time with family and friends.

On Christmas Day, Wayne’s young son didn’t have that luxury. His father wasn’t there to share the day with him or see him opening his presents. No-one, especially children, should have to live with the legacy of having a loved one gunned down in cold blood.

"The young woman who was injured on that fateful evening will endure the horror of what she witnessed for the rest of her life."

Detective Chief Inspector Corrigan said the Crimestoppers reward would be offered to anyone who gives information leading to the successful prosecution of the perpetrators of this brutal murder.

“Today I would appeal to anyone who has information about this murder and who has not already come forward to please speak with my officers. Your information could be that vital piece we need to bring the perpetrators before the courts."
