Three injured in Co Down head-on crash

THREE people were seriously injured in a new year's day head-on road collision in Co Down.

It happened on Tandragee Road, around two miles outside Newry, at around 6.40pm yesterday.

Two women and a man were taken to hospital with "very serious injuries", police said.

The women, who are both thought to be aged in their twenties, were the driver and passenger in a white Renault Clio while the man, who is in his fifties, was the driver of a blue BMW.

Police have asked that anyone travelling on Tandragee Road at around 6.40pm or anyone who may have witnessed the collision to get in touch.

The road remains closed.
