Houses in Carryduff suffer power cuts on St Stephen's Day

There were several power cuts on St Stephen's Day affecting counties Down, Tyrone and Armagh

HOUSES in Carryduff were left without electricity for most of St Stephen's Day.

NIE reported that cuts were affecting two separate areas in Carryduff from yesterday morning.

In the first incident, 55 houses lost power at about 8:22am. About an hour later, an equipment failure led to a further 19 houses being left without electricity.

NIE said it had located the faults on the network and was undertaking repairs but power remained off yesterday evening.

Elsewhere, 69 homes in the Drumnakilly Road area outside Omagh also lost power shortly after noon yesterday.

Emergency repairs were being carried out last night.

And a further 35 houses near Lough Gullion in Co Armagh experienced cuts at about 5pm last night.
