Four adults and a child taken to hospital following Co Down crash

The A1 was closed in both directions following the crash

FOUR adults and a child were taken to hospital following a crash on the A1 dual carriageway in Co Down.

The collision, which involved two cars and a lorry, happened on the southbound lane close to the junction of Taughblane Road, near Hillsborough

Five emergency crews, a doctor and the air ambulance attended the scene of the collision, which happened shortly before 2pm.

The adults are taken to the Royal Victoria Hospital in Belfast for treatment, while and the child was taken to the Royal Belfast Hospital for Sick Children.

It is understood that none of the patients were seriously injured.

The dual carriageway was closed in both directions following the crash.
