TWO people have been arrested in Armagh following an drugs operation by detectives from PSNI Organised Crime Branch which saw more than £100,000 worth of drugs seized.

Detective Inspector Colin Patterson said both were taken into custody on Wednesday.

"A quantity of suspected cannabis was discovered after police stopped and searched a car on the Moy Road area of Armagh," he said.

"A 27 year old man was arrested on suspicion of possession of Class B controlled drugs and possession of Class B controlled drugs with intent.

"A follow-up search at a property in the Gough Avenue area of Armagh resulted in the seizure of approximately ½ kilogram of suspected cocaine, and a 31 year old female was arrested for supply offences.

"Both the male and female are currently in custody.

"With over £100,000 worth of illegal substances removed from our streets, we continue to make Northern Ireland a hostile environment to those involved in drug dealing within our communities. We will seek to identify them, arrest them and bring them before the courts.

"I would encourage anyone with information about the sale and supply of illegal drugs to get in touch with police on 101."
