Sinn Fein activist arrested

Sinn Féin have held a protest following the arrest of a party member in Derry on Thursday under the terrorism act.

The 63-year-old, named locally as Sadie Callan, was detained in the Creggan area on Thursday.

A PSNI spokesman said the arrest was made by detectives "investigating terrorist activity earlier today".

Ms Callan, a well known republican and active Sinn Féin party member, was taken to Musgrave Street in Belfast for questioning.

The Sinn Féin, Eamonn Lafferty Cumman held a protest on Thursday afternoon outside Strand Road PSNI station in Derry following the arrest.

Saying that the protest was "in solidarity with Cumann member and veteran Republican Sadie Callan who was arrested in Creggan".
