RADIO presenter Gerry Kelly is to step down from his Friday afternoon show on BBC Radio Ulster as a shake-up of its schedules continues.

The veteran broadcaster, who began presenting the show more than five years ago, will continue with his Saturday slot at a new time of 12-1pm.

"I have really enjoyed presenting the show on Fridays and we have had some fantastic guests over the years, but the time has come for me to focus on other things," he said.

"I will still be on the airwaves with my Saturday show and look forward to start planning for a new six-part radio series to go out on BBC Radio Ulster next year."

Mr Kelly's last Friday show will go out on October 18.

Last month Stephen Clements was announced as the replacement for Sean Coyle in BBC Radio Ulster's weekday morning schedule.

The former Q Radio presenter made his debut on September 23 in the 10.30am slot, with Mr Coyle now hosting a show on Radio Foyle.
