A CO DOWN cafe and a popular food truck pit-stop in Derry were among the northern winners at the Irish Takeaway awards.

A total of five eateries from Northern Ireland took home gongs at inaugural awards to celebrate restaurants and takeaways that have provided excellent food and service across the island.

The Genoa Cafe in Warrenpoint, Co Down was recognised in the "Takeaway Team of the Year" while Derry's Pyke ‘N’ Pommes came up trumps in the Food Truck of the Year.

In south Belfast the Stranmillis Sphinx branch was officially named the Kebab Takeaway of the Year while the city's Bia Rebel Ramen was named as the Healthy Takeaway of the Year.

Italian Takeaway of the Year went to Fire & Stone Pizzeria in Limavady, Co Derry.

Restaurants in Dublin, Galway, Sligo, Cork and Wexford were also recognised.
