A man aged in his thirties was taken to hospital last night following a paramilitary-style shooting in Derry.

Police said the man was found at Leafair Gardens in the Galliagh area of the city at around 8pm.

The victim sustained gunshot wounds to both legs and was taken to hospital for treatment.

Police last night appealed for information.

SDLP councillor Brian Tierney said there was "no appetite for this in this area".
