POLICE have appealed for information after a brick was thrown at the window of a passing car in west Belfast.

The brick smashed a passenger side window just before 11.30pm on Friday at the roundabout at Lagmore Avenue.

Posting on Facebook, a PSNI spokesman warned that it "could have struck the driver and caused serious injury to him or any other road users had he swerved into oncoming traffic".

"This behaviour is disgusting. If you are reading this and know you were involved in this incident, then you should be ashamed of yourself. This was not big and not clever and actions like this have no place in our community."

Sinn Fein councillor Daniel Baker also said he was "absolutely disgusted" by what had happened.

"We have had a quiet summer and this behaviour will not be tolerated if anyone has any information please contact myself or the PSNI. Those responsible could have killed someone."
