Suspicious object found in Co Antrim declared eleborate hoax

A SUSPICIOUS object found close to houses in Co Antrim today was later declared an eleborate hoax.

Residents in 50 houses the Raceview Drive area of Ballymoney in the area were evacuated following the discovery this morning.

The Joey Dunlop Centre was opened for anyone affected by the alert.

Army bomb experts attended the scene, but following an examination of the suspicious object, it was later declared an elaborate hoax.

Residents were allowed to return to their homes at around 5pm.

PSNI Chief Inspector Ian Magee said: "Local people, including children trying to make their way home from school, have been greatly inconvenienced.

"And I’d like to thank all of those people for their patience and cooperation.

"I’m also appealing to anyone with information about this incident, to get in touch on 101."
