Susan Boyle to headline BBC Proms in the Park at Titanic Slipways

AROUND 10,000 people will gather on Belfast's Titanic Slipways tonight for the annual BBC Proms in the Park.

The biggest outside broadcast of the year will feature Britain's Got Talent finalist Susan Boyle, accompanied by the Ulster Orchestra, under the baton of David Brophy.

Also on the bill are renowned Australian tenor, Mark Vincent; pianist Elizabeth Brauss, one of BBC Radio 3's New Generation Artists; acclaimed violinist Ziyu He; local musician Tom Myles, and the New Irish Chamber Choir.

The sold-out, Belfast City Council-supported event is in its 18th year and will be hosted by Noel Thompson and Marie-Louise Muir.

It is part of broadcast celebrations to mark the Last Night Of The Proms, which links music-making festivities at London's Royal Albert Hall with BBC events around the UK.

TV viewers will be able to see coverage of key moments from the evening's entertainment., with highlights broadcast later on BBCNI, BBC Four on Sunday September 22 at 5.35pm and 7pm and the BBC iPlayer.

The entire concert will be broadcast live throughout the evening from 7.30 pmon BBC Radio Ulster, with a visual stream on bbc.co.uk/nilive

Organisers advised those travelling to the event that train and bus services will operate as normal and there will be clear car parking signage within the Titanic Quarter and on approach roads and Queens Road.
