Police investigating death of elderly farmer in Co Down
POLICE are investigating the death of an elderly farmer in Co Down after his body was discovered by neighbours.
The farmer, who has not yet been named, was found dead at his farm on the Crawfordstown Road near Drumaness around 11am yesterday.
Police, including forensics officers, remained at the scene yesterday evening.
Ulster Unionist councillor Alan Lewis said people in the area were stunned by the man's sudden death.
He visited the area and spoke to the farmer's neighbours.
"They are fine example of attentive, caring and friendly neighbours they can take comfort in the fact that they were the embodiment of what good neighbours should be," he said.
