Two men have been arrested by anti-terrorism detectives in a probe into the activities of the Continuity IRA.
A quantity of suspected ammunition was also seized yesterday following a number of searches in west Belfast and Newtownabbey.
A 31-year-old man was arrested in west Belfast and a 37-year-old man was arrested in Newtownabbey yesterday.
Both remained in police custody this morning following the operation by detectives from the PSNI's Terrorism Investigation Unit.
Detective Inspector Adrian Brown said the searches came as part of an ongoing investigation into activities linked to the dissident republican group the Continuity IRA.
"A number of searches were conducted in west Belfast and Newtownabbey on Thursday in connection with an ongoing investigation into violent dissident republican activity linked to the Continuity IRA," he said.
"A number of items, including a quantity of suspected ammunition, have been seized for further examination."
