A FUNDRAISING effort to help the family of a two-year-old boy from Co Down who is in a critical condition in a Canary Islands hospital tripled the £500 target within 24 hours

Jaiden Potter was on holiday with his parents Puerto Rico when he suffered a seizure on Thursday afternoon, according to his uncle Michael who launched the appeal.

He said Jaiden's father Derek Potter performed CPR until the ambulance arrived, with medics continuing to work on him "for over one hour".

"An emergency air ambulance was contacted and the local beach was cleared for landing, they worked another 40 minutes on Jaiden doing everything they can before eventually getting him in the air and off to hospital which is a 45 minute drive from the resort in which they are staying.

"As soon as they reached the hospital Jaiden has been placed in ICU and in a critical condition."

The Gofundme page was set up to help with any travel costs for parents Derek and Courtney Potter "and anything they might need in the recovery of their son".

Within 23 hours well-wishers had donated £1,733.
