Police have appealed for information after reports of shots being fired at a house in Co Tyrone last night.

A man and a woman were in the property in the Thornlea area of Omagh when it was attacked.

Detective Inspector Trevor Stevenson said: “We received a report just after 8.15pm that shots had been fired at a house in the area, striking the front door and window.

“A man and woman were inside at the time. While they were thankfully uninjured, both have been left badly shaken.

“A black motorcycle with two riders was seen leaving the area, heading towards Deverney Road.

“We are appealing to anyone with any information, or who may have seen this vehicle, to contact us on 101."

Sinn Féin West Tyrone MP Órfhlaith Begley said: “I was disgusted to hear of incident in the Thornlea area of Omagh.

“Those responsible acted recklessly and with intent to cause serious injury or worse.

“There is no place for guns on our streets and this morning the local community are rightly angered by what happened.

“This is a quiet area and no one wants to see this type of activity.

“A PSNI investigation is underway and anyone with information should bring it forward.”
