Hundreds of pensioners descended on Belfast City Hall yesterday for a special tea dance event.
Organised by Good Morning West Belfast, which offers a support and befriending service for some of the 330 visitors invited on the outing, it was the first time they had been guest at city hall.
The event was sponsored by The Irish News. The pensioners enjoyed a drinks reception on their arrival before tucking in to a three-course lunch before attending the 'tea dance' in the Great Hall.
John Brolly, Irish News Marketing Manager, said: "The Irish News are delighted to support the out to dance event at city hall as it is very similar to our Neighbourhood News initiative that we ran at the start of the year to encourage people to call in with older people in their community by dropping in a copy of the Irish News in an effort to tackle loneliness among older people and reinforce the importance of communities looking out for each other."
