The Irish contestants on ITV2 hit reality show Love Island were last night spared in a massive dumping from the famous villa.

Four people - two couples - were evicted from the famous Mallorca villa, following a public vote.

Of the 12 contestants left on the show, there are only two Irish natives including Maura Higgins, a 24-year-old model from Co Longford and Greg O'Shea, a 24-year-old professional rugby player from Limerick, who have so far managed to stay put.

Maura, who has been described as one of the show's most popular contestants this year is currently coupled up with professional dancer, Curtis Pritchard while Greg, who only entered the villa recently, won the heart of 21-year-old beauty therapist, Amber Gill.

The Irish man had to leave the villa temporarily earlier this week and fly to Dublin to attend his grandmother's funeral. He then returned to the show, much to the delight of his fellow contestants.

Meanwhile, as the show nears its final on Monday, it has been reported that a second winter version will soon hit tv screens.

Caroline Flack will reportedly host the first ever winter version, which will be based in South Africa and which will be broadcast early next year.

The show is expected to last six weeks.
