Men charged with attempting to steal a flag in Derry's Fountain Estate

Two men have appeared at Derry Magistrate's Court charged with attempting to steal a flag from the Fountain Estate.

Ray Bonner (28) of Ivy Terrace and Padraig Moran (22) of Ederowen Park both in Derry were charged with assault on a female on July 20.

They were also charged with going equipped for theft on the same date by having a rope and attempting to steal a flag belonging to Graeme Wark also on July 20.

A police officer connected both men to the charges and defence solicitors Kevin Casey for Moran and Paddy MacDermott for Bonner said they had no questions regarding the connection.

The officer said that bail was not opposed.

Both were released on their own bail on condition they do not enter the Fountain area, have no contact with the alleged injured party, abstain from alcohol and observe a curfew.

They will appear again on August 19.
