SHADOW Chancellor John McDonnell and High Court judge Richard Humphreys are among a host of names taking part in a debating series.

The line-up for the Féile an Phobail Debates and Discussions Summer School programme was unveiled yesterday.

More than 75 events are scheduled to take place in west Belfast between August 1 and 11.

The majority will be hosted by St Mary's University College on Falls Road.

Former DUP assembly member Nelson McCausland, Sinn Féin deputy leader Michelle O'Neill and Fine Gael Senator Neale Richmond will also be involved.

Féile Debates and Discussions committee chairman Professor Bill Rolston said Brexit, a border poll and the economy were among the topics.

"The line-up is of a very high calibre and inclusive of all," he said.

"Every debate and discussion is free to attend with no tickets required and we are issuing an open invite to all to come to Féile and join the conversation in debating and discussing all the hot topics of the day."

The Irish News' marketing manager John Brolly said the newspaper was delighted to be the official media partner.

"The range of debates and discussions cover so many important topics in today's society," he said.

"I have no doubt a lot of the speakers will allow us to hear many different perspectives and opinions. With over 75 events planned I would encourage everyone to attend."
