THE funeral will take place tomorrow of a Co Down man killed in a road crash.

John Blaney, from Mearne Road in Downpatrick, died in the two-car collision on Friday outside Newcastle.

It happened at about 12.30pm on Ballagh Road, close to the Bloody Bridge between Newcastle and Annalong.

The 32-year-old was travelling in a Citroen when it was involved in the crash with a Skoda Octavia.

Two people who were travelling in the Skoda did not sustain serious injuries.

Requiem Mass for Mr Blaney will be held at 10am in St Patrick's Church, Saul, with interment in the adjoining family burial ground.

A family notice says he was the son of Anne and Michael and brother of Cara and Emily, and is also survived by his partner Barbara, her daughter Pav, nephew, niece and wide family circle.

Meanwhile, the funeral of a Co Armagh road crash victim takes place today.

Grandmother-of-two Maureen Duffy, from Loughgall and formerly of Glasgow, died in the crash on Sunday.

She was the driver of a red Vauxhall Viva which was in collision with a black Honda Civic on Loughgall Road, close to her home, at about 2.45pm.

It happened at the junction with Ballybrannon Road.

Requiem Mass for Mrs Duffy will be at St Peter's Church, Collegeland, at noon followed by cremation in Roselawn crematorium.

Mrs Duffy's husband Brendan predeceased her and she is survived by daughter Siobhan, son Ciaran and family circle.

Police have appealed for anyone with information or dashcam footage of either crash to contact them on 101 quoting reference number 782 of 19/07/19 or 1066 of 14/07/19.
