BULLETS have been found in a plastic bag in a busy north Belfast park.

Police are investigating after the bullets were found in Marrowbone Park in the Oldpark area early yesterday morning.

SDLP councillor Paul McCusker said the bullets were discovered in undergrowth close to a soccer pitch in the park.

“It’s very strange,” he said. “We don’t know how the bullets came to be there or why.

“We don’t know if the bullets are old or new.”

Mr McCusker said he was pleased the bullets had been removed by police.

“The park is used by children and families every day,” he said.
