A NEW commemorative plaque was unveiled yesterday for the victims of the 'Springhill massacre' in west Belfast.

Five people were killed when the British army opened fire in the Springhill estate in July 1972.

A march was held in support of the victims' families before a plaque was unveiled at a memorial garden.

Sinn Féin West Belfast MP Paul Maskey said: "Those families and their supporters have campaigned for almost five decades for the truth of what happened to their loved ones.

"They are entitled to access to the truth about how their loved ones died."
