A WOMAN and two men were arrested yesterday following an attempted armed robbery of a shop in Belfast city centre.

It was reported around 5.40pm and happened on Castle Street.

A man wearing a balaclava had entered the shop armed with a suspected firearm and demanded money from staff who refused.

The masked man then left the shop and made off from the scene.

Two men aged 52 and 61 and a 51-year-old woman were arrested a short time later in relation to the incident.

They last night remained in custody assisting officers with their enquiries.
