A man and a teenage boy have been charged with attempted murder after an assault in Newry.

The man (24) has been charged with attempted murder, possession of an offensive weapon with intent to commit an indictable offence and possession of a Class C controlled drug.

The boy (15) faces charges of attempted murder, possession of an offensive weapon with intent to commit an indictable offence and possession of a Class B controlled drug. 

A 26-year-old man was injured following the assault at a flat in Cleary Crescent.

Both men are set to appear at Newry Magistrates Court this morning.

A 17-year-old male appeared at Newry Magistrates’ Court in connection with the incident on Thursday while a 29-year-old man was released on bail pending further enquiries.
