Former heavyweight boxer Martin Rogan due in court on assault charges

FORMER heavyweight boxer Martin Rogan is due to appear in court charged with assault at a Belfast city centre pub.

Mr Rogan of Glen River Park, Glenavy faces four charges relating to an incident at Kelly's Cellars on September 20 last year.

The 48-year-old is alleged to have assaulted a man occasioning actual bodily harm and is also accused of unlawfully assaulting a woman and a second man.

He has also been charged with disorderly behaviour in a public place.

The case against the former Commonwealth heavyweight winner was due to be heard at Belfast magistrates court last Friday.

However, it is understood that the defence is awaiting CCTV evidence to be served to the prosecution.

The case has been adjourned until June 3.
