A ROMANIAN man with an address in England has been returned for trial on charges linked to the robbery of a man who was found dead near Derry's Walls in August 2015.

Adrian Vasile Aitoneanu (35), whose address was given as Selwyn Street in Rotherham, appeared at a preliminary enquiry at Derry Magistrate's Court.

He was charged with robbing Conall Kerrigan of a wallet and contents on August 23 2015.

He was also charged with stealing an iPhone on the same date.

It was accepted there was a case to answer and there were no contrary submissions.

Speaking through an interpreter Aitoneanu said he did not wish to all any witnesses or make any statement at this stage.

He was returned for trial to Derry Crown Court on June 20 and released on bail.

Mr Kerrigan's body was found near the Walls in August 2015 but foul play was not suspected in his death.
