A FERRARI car that once belonged to Formula One driver Eddie Irvine has been stolen during a test drive.

The 1985 model worth £1.7 million was taken by a "collector" in the German city of Düsseldorf.

The dealer's website said it once belonged to Co Down born racing driver Irvine - who competed for the Ferrari F1 team between 1996 and 1999.

The car was later discovered hidden in a garage in the town of Grevenbroich, near Düsseldorf city centre.
