A MAN has been treated in hospital after falling from a height at the North West 200 in Portstewart.

The man, understood to be a member of one of the racing crews, is believed to have fallen from a paddock.

It happened shortly before 10am on Sunday on the Ballyreagh Road in the town, which was closed for a period before re-opening.

The Ambulance Service said an emergency crew and Air Ambulance were sent to the scene.

"Following assessment and initial treatment at the scene the patient was taken by ambulance to Causeway Hospital," said a spokesperson for the Ambulance Service.

It is understood the patient was later transferred to Altnagelvin Hospital in Derry.
