A SECOND 'Time for Truth' march will be held in Belfast next month to highlight continuing delays in dealing with legacy issues.

A similar event in February last year attracted thousands of people including relatives of people killed.

Those taking part in the march have several demands including calling on the British government to implement and adequately resource the Stormont House Agreement, which deals with the past.

Campaigners are also calling for a five-year plan by Lord Chief Justice Declan Morgan to clear a legacy inquest backlog, to be adequately resourced and that the Police Ombudsman receives similar support to allow it to complete historical investigations.

Ciarán MacAirt, whose grandmother Kitty Irvine was one of 15 people killed in the 1971 McGurk’s Bar bombing, said thousands of signatures have been gathered in a petition supporting the demands of relatives.

“Some of our families have been fighting for nearly half a century for a proper investigation or inquest into the death of loved ones,” he said.

The Time for Truth March will take place in Belfast on Sunday June 9.
