A MAN died after he was hit by a lorry in Co Tyrone this afternoon.

Police said the man, a pedestrian, was hit on the Drum Road in Cookstown at around 1.50pm.

A spokesman for the Ambulance Service said it sent two emergency crews to the scene. The Air Ambulance was also sent to the crash.

The man was taken to Craigavon Area Hospital but later died.

Police appealed to anyone who was travelling on the Drum Road this afternoon or who saw a man walking along the road around the time of the crash to contact them on 101.

Meanwhile, at least one person is thought to have been seriously injured in a crash in Co Derry this afternoon.

A car flipped on to its roof on Castleroe Road in Coleraine shortly after 5pm.

The road was closed for several hours following the crash.
