Man in court over attempted hijacking of car with children inside
A MAN has appeared at Derry Magistrate's Court in connection with an attempt to hijack a car with a woman and children in it.
Anthony Roberts (49) of Drumleck Drive in the city faced a total of five charges in relation to an incident on April 25.
Roberts was charged with attempting to hijack a vehicle, attempting to steal a handbag, driving while unfit, failing to provide a specimen and possessing cannabis on April 25.
A police officer said he believed he could connect Roberts to the charges.
A lawyer for Roberts said the intended bail address was with the defendant's mother but she was currently on holiday and would not be back for two weeks.
District Judge Mark McGarrity said he would adjourn the application until May 13 and Roberts was remanded in custody.
