THE PSNI has appealed to members of the public to lock up heavy plant machinery over the weekend after a spate of ATM robberies across the north.

A major police investigation has been launched after a series of robberies involving stolen plant machinery being used to rip cash machines from the walls of shops.

Detective Chief Inspector David Henderson said: “As the weekend approaches, I want to appeal to the public to lock up heavy plant machinery and reassure the public that the thefts of ATM machines remains a key priority for us.

“We understand that these attacks are having a major impact on local communities and we are doing all we can to catch the people responsible.”
