Tara Wright who was found dead outside Belfast City Hospital last weekend. Her cause of death remains under investigation.

A TEENAGE girl who died in circumstances still under investigation by police was laid to rest in a private family service at the weekend.

Tara Wright (17), from the Dromore area of Co Down, was found dead in a car close to Belfast City Hospital in the early hours of last Sunday morning.

Police believe the call centre worker sustained fatal injuries in an earlier collision when a Mercedes car crashed at the Ballygowan Road, injuring a number of people.

A former student of New-Bridge Integrated College, school principal Anne Anderson described her as a "bright and capable young lady, with a vibrant personality".

In a statement, Mrs Anderson said that the school community was "deeply saddened to learn about the tragic and untimely death" of its past pupil.

"Tara was a pupil here at New-Bridge Integrated College from September 2012 to June 2017," she said.

"We remember Tara as an outgoing and popular member of our college community...Our thoughts and prayers are with the Wright family at this difficult time."

In an emotional tribute to their daughter, Michael and Tracey Wright said: "As parents we are devastated by the heartbreaking passing of our beautiful daughter Tara.

"Tara was a kind, funny, charismatic bright young girl with her whole life ahead of her and we can't believe that we now have to say goodbye to her.

"Tara will be remembered as she lived, a fun-loving, energetic and vibrant soul with a zest for life that could bring joy to all around her.

"Tara will be missed immeasurably not only by us, but her entire family, especially her brothers and sister Charles, Alistair and Anna, who will never forget the love they had for her and the love she had for them".

Four men, aged 20, 21, 28 and 30 were arrested last Sunday in connection with the incident and later released on police bail.

Detectives continue to investigate the circumstances of the fatal traffic collision and have asked anyone with information, or who may have dash cam footage of the Mercedes or the grey MG car in which Ms Wright's body was discovered.
