A MAN is due to appear in court in Belfast today charged with possessing a firearm in suspicious circumstances.

The 37-year-old man also faces a charge of fraudulently using a vehicle registration mark.

He was detained following an operation at a house in the Andersonstown area on Tuesday night, which police said was in relation to organised crime.

He is due to appear at Belfast Magistrates Court.
