A 65-year-old woman has been treated for shock after a pipe bomb attack in Co Armagh.

The device detonated at a house in the Burnside area of Craigavon around 12.55am on Thursday.

The blast caused damage to the front door and hallway of the property.

Aontú councillor Fergal Lennon condemned the attack.

“It’s a shock for the local community,” he said.

“Thoughtless and mindless attacks by thugs contribute nothing to the community and have nothing to offer.”

Sinn Féin representative Michael Tallon said: “This is the latest attack involving criminal gangs who are intent on bringing harm and disruption to the community.

“This was a terrifying ordeal for this elderly woman."
