Detectives are questioning a cousin of Ian Ogle in relation to the brutal stabbing of the father-of-two.

The 40-year-old man is being questioned at Musgrave Street station after presenting himself to police yesterday. A 37-year-old is also being questioned by detectives after meeting officers by appointment.

The two are thought to have to have returned to Northern Ireland on Sunday following a brief stay in Scotland.

In a coded statement to the Irish News last week the UVF said that while some of those involved "may try to seek the protection of the UVF", it did not "sanction" or condone the killing and "no protection" would be offered to them.

Today police arrested a 38-year-old man, bringing to 12 the number of arrests.

Ten men and two women have been arrested in total. No-one has been charged.

Mr Ogle was beaten and stabbed to death close to his Cluan Place home in east Belfast, on Sunday January 27.

Hundreds of people lined the Albertbridge Road yesterday for the funeral of the 45-year-old.

Pastor Kevin Sambrook, who was with Mr Ogle just minutes before the attack, called for no revenge for the "brutal, barbaric and savage" murder.
