IRISH League footballer Jay Donnelly must wait another week to be sentenced for distributing an indecent image of a child.

The 23-year-old Cliftonville striker's case was due to be dealt with at Belfast Magistrates' Court today.

Donnelly, of Ardilea Drive in the Ardoyne area of the city, attended with a number of relatives for the planned hearing.

But adjourning sentencing for a week, District Judge Amanda Henderson said she needed time to read all relevant reports.

In November last year the footballer pleaded guilty distributing an indecent image.

The case against him related to a date unknown between June and October 2016.

A separate charge of taking or making an indecent photograph was withdrawn.

Donnelly had continued to appear for Cliftonville after the allegations emerged.

Following his conviction, however, the club dropped him from the team.

In a statement released last month Cliftonville FC said it "feels it has a duty of care to everyone associated at this moment in time".
