Tributes to Derry man Christopher Donnelly (33) who died in the US
CONDOLENCES have been offered to the family of a young Derry-born man who passed away in the United States on Christmas Day.
Christopher Donnelly (33) died at his home in New Bedford, Massachusetts.
His family had moved to the US when he was a young child and Mr Donnelly worked as a high school and youth soccer referee.
The circumstances of his death are not known.
Derry SDLP councillor Martin Reilly, who knew Mr Donnelly's father, also called Christopher, said he was deeply saddened to hear of the death.
"I first got to know Christopher Snr when I was mayor through his involvement with the Friendly Sons of St Patrick in Massachusetts which is an organisation that regularly brings groups of tourists to Derry," he said.
"Christopher Snr was from the Bogside area and always kept his native Derry close to his heart through the Friendly Sons of St Patrick so I was very saddened to hear that his son had passed away on Christmas Day.
"Like so many other people from this city, I offer my condolences to Christopher and the wider family circle on the death of Christopher Jnr."
Mr Donnelly is survived by his daughter Raelynne Rose Donnelly, father Christopher, mother Mary Elizabeth and sister Roisin, as well as relatives in Derry.
