A FATHER-of-three who was killed after being struck by a car just outside Armagh early yesterday morning was 46-year-old Terence Fox.

Mr Fox, who was from the Armagh area, was hit on the Moy Road shortly before 5.15am.

The 46-year-old was a member of St Colmcille's GFC in Grange, near Loughgall, Co Armagh.

In a statement on its Facebook page, the club wrote: "We are deeply saddened at the passing of our friend and member Terry Fox".

"We express our condolences to his daughters Lauren, Stephanie and Emma and his entire family circle."

It is understood Mr Fox's teenage daughters Lauren and Stephanie have represented Armagh GAA at under-14 level.

Sinn Féin councillor for Armagh City Garath Keating expressed his shock and sadness at the tragedy.

"There is a deep sense of shock in the local community at the news of this tragic incident," he said.

"Foremost in our minds right now is the deceased man’s family and friends who will be devastated at this harrowing news. Our thoughts and prayers are with them.

"There is no easy time to get this kind of news and it is particularly hard at this time of year."

SDLP MLA Justin McNulty tweeted: "It's so sad to lose someone in such tragic circumstances but at this time of year it must be especially difficult".

"Thoughts and prayers with Mr Fox's family and friends," he wrote.

Police have appealed to anyone who saw the crash or who may have dash-cam footage to contact them on 101.

Meanwhile, a 62-year-old man died in Co Longford on Wednesday evening after he was struck by a car.

The incident happened at Cleenrath, Aughnacliffe, at around 7pm.

The 44-year-old woman who was driving the car was uninjured.

Gardaí have appealed to anyone with information to contact them.
