A MAN has appeared in court in Derry charged in connection with a serious assault.

Patrick McCallion (27) from Capall Court in the city is accused of wounding with intent.

He is also charged with possessing an offensive weapon, namely two broken bottles, with intent to commit grievous bodily harm.

The charges follow an assault of a 25-year-old man in a house at Drumleck Drive on December 23.

There was no application for bail and the defendant was remanded in custody.

He will appear in court again by video link on January 14.
